Charles Stanton is in his second season leading the Portsmouth
Men's Chorus. Charles is a voice faculty member at Plymouth State
University and directs the opera theatre. He holds the degrees Master
of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of North
Carolina at Greensboro, and Bachelor of Music in Vocal
Performance from Wingate University. Charles also completed
advanced vocal studies in Voice at Oberlin Conservatory in the
studio of renowned vocal pedagogue, Richard Miller.

Charles continued his studies in Europe in Mannheim, Germany with
artists and coaches of the Mannheim City Opera. While there, he
studied and performed six principal roles as well as several
considerable main stage roles with the City Opera. Prior to his move
to New Hampshire, Charles was a faculty member at Central
Piedmont College and was on staff at with the University of North
Carolina system. He is active as a vocal artist throughout the United
States and abroad. He has been a guest artist with Opera Carolina,
Long Leaf Opera, Greensboro Opera, Triad Opera, Triangle Opera,
Central Piedmont Opera, Piedmont Opera, Chattanooga Opera,
Opera Memphis, Newberry Opera, Atlanta Opera and Mannheim
City Opera as well as locally with Granite State Opera, Manchester
Choral Society and the Dartmouth Handel Society. Charles was also
on the Founding Board of Directors for the Boston Opera
Collaborative, a newly established regional young vocal artist venue.
In 2006, Charles was honored with a young concert artist award,
for which one can only be considered by way of nomination from
other internationally established professionals in classical vocal music.

Terrie Harman’s piano and organ experience spans 25 years in varied
settings including weddings, multi-denominational religious services,
chamber music, soloist, and accompanist. Classically trained with a zest
for all musical styles, Terrie teaches piano and organ, is interim organist
at St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, and is the founder of the
Portsmouth Men’s Chorus. She is an advisory board member of the
Apple Hill Chamber Players. Terrie is a partner with the law firm of
Watson, Bosen, Harman, Venci and Lemire, P.A.
Michael Cocco
Board President
Michael Cocco is the president of the Portsmouth Men’s Chorus.  With a
degree in accounting from Dutchess Community College and additional
coursework from Marist College and the University of Maine, Mike brings
business experience to the board of directors.  A licensed real estate appraiser,
Mike is president and owner of Chauncey Creek Appraisals LLC, operating in
Maine and New Hampshire. A latecomer to the world of singing, Mike first joined
the choir at Christ Episcopal Church in Portsmouth in order to share an activity
with his wife, Sally, a public school music teacher.  Twenty-plus years later, Mike
sings in the St. John’s Episcopal Church choir in Portsmouth, the Trinity
Episcopal Chapel summer choir in York Harbor, and the Seacoast Community
Chorus in York, where Mike serves on the board as member-at-large. All of this in
addition to singing with the Portsmouth Men’s Chorus and serving as president.
